Pine pollen is an irreplaceable source of numerous active substances, such as phytosterols, flavonoids, B vitamins, enzymes, sugars, phenolic acid, lignans, phytohormones and essential oils (alpha and beta pinene, borneol, bornyl acetate, limonene, isoborneol, terpineol, karen, feldains, caryophyllum, and camphene). Pine pollen contains relatively large amounts of male hormones (mainly testosterone, androstendione, and slightly smaller amounts of DHEA and androsterone) and amino acids necessary for the proper functioning of the male endocrine system such as: arginine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, tryptophan and tyrosine. The vast majority of these amino acids are exogenous (not naturally produced by our bodies but supplied only with food). Pine pollen has an analgesic, expectorant and anti-inflammatory properties. It also increases the libido. Pine pollen can also be used externally to dry out wounds, stop bleeding and treat skin diseases such as eczema, lichen, acne and chafes. In MS, it helps fight fatigue.
