Lat. Polygonum cuspidatum

Japanese knotweed stimulates and modulates the immune system and has anti-inflammatory properties. The plant is a rich source of resveratrol, which stimulates microcirculation. Besides resveratrol, the whole plant contains a lot of active substances which have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties against Lyme disease spirochete. Those properties make Japanese knotweed one of the best herbs for treatment of Lyme disease and its coinfections. The substances contained in Polygonum cuspidatum are able to cross the blood-brain barrier and affect the central nervous system where they protect the brain from postinflammatory damage, microbial endotoxins and bacterial infections. Furthermore, Japanese knotweed facilitates the blood circulation, especially in joints, brain, eyes, heart, and skin. This characteristic makes the plant particularly useful for treatment of Lyme disease, as it facilitates the flow of blood to locations which are difficult to reach by substances which kill the spirochetes. It works together with pharmaceuticals and herbs, making it easier for them to reach the Borrelia spirochetes.
