Alcohol-Free Extracts

Alcohol-Free Extracts

- Categories : Articles

Alcohol-free extracts are made mainly on the basis of glycerin. Glycerin has become a popular alternative to alcohol tinctures and is perfect for children and people who don't like or can't drink alcohol.

Glycerin is very sweet, but it is not sugar. This means that glycerin does not affect blood sugar levels in healthy people, nor does it cause yeast problems.

However, glycerin is not as effective in extraction as water or alcohol. Glycerin only has about 60% of the alcohol extraction value. Glycerates will therefore be 40% weaker than alcohol tinctures. Compared to alcohol tinctures, they should be taken in doses from one and a half to two times higher. So if you were advised to use 2.5 ml of alcohol tincture, use 5 ml for non-alcohol tincture. If you keep this rule in mind, you will maintain the desired effect.

The Lymeherbs store offers alcohol-free extracts in ratio 1: 5 and 1:1. Extracts mde with ratio 1:1 are 5 times stronger than alcohol free extracts made with 1:5 ratio. Glycerin is a much weaker extraction medium, so a 1:1 concentration is well tolerated by most people. However, if it turns out to be too strong for you, we would recommend you to go back to using extracts made with 1: 5 ratio.
