Cistus incanus is one of the richest sources of polyphenols. Polyphenols have an antibiotic effect. Cistus incanus has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and properties. Additionally, the plant supports the immune system. Furthermore Cistus incanus is used in the treatment of Lyme disease because it causes gluing of the bacteria which prevents their connection to the cell membrane, thereby bacteria are inactivated.
